The Webster Five Foundation announced that as part of its Web of Caring to Make a Difference program, it will donate $2,500 to the Center for Women & Enterprise Central Massachusetts office. The Center for Women & Enterprise has operated for 21 years, providing opportunities for female entrepreneurs and businesswomen to increase professional success, personal growth, and financial independence.

Webster Five’s Web of Caring to Make a Difference program reinforces the bank’s long-standing initiative to give back to the community by supporting local organizations that are making a difference. As a leading economic development organization with proven success in New England, the Center for Women & Enterprise is a great asset to women in Central Massachusetts and the Greater Worcester community. The organization has established itself as a model for training, counseling, and innovative approaches to small business assistance. Since the inception of the Central Massachusetts office in 1999, thousands of individuals have been positively impacted and able to achieve new income opportunities for their businesses and their families.

The Center for Women & Enterprise’s nationally recognized programs are specifically structured to support the obstacles facing low-income business owners and provide support for their strength and goals.  If there is a need, programs are offered in both English and Spanish. Programs not only include business development courses such as entrepreneurship and business planning, but also feature programs designed to build job-seeking skills for those who may be in transition. Continued philanthropic funding is necessary to ensure that these programs are available to all who wish to participate.

Donald F. Doyle, president and chief executive officer of Webster Five, stated, “We recognize the Center for Women & Enterprise for the contribution they are making to our community. We are grateful for the services they provide because they are essential to the growth and development of both our local community members, their businesses and our economy.”

President and chief executive officer Susan Rittscher said “We are so appreciative of Webster Five’s donation. It is because of the support from valuable partners like Webster Five that our organization is able to help women become economically self-sufficient through business and entrepreneurship.”
