WEBSTER, MA – The Webster Five Foundation, as part of the Web of Caring to Make a Difference program, announced that the Strengthening Our Future capital campaign project at Harrington HealthCare at Webster has been completed with the help of the Foundation’s $50,000 grant. This grant was paid to the organization over a three-year period, starting in 2012. The funds were used to help the reconstruction of the new Remillard Family Emergency Department and support Harrington HealthCare at Webster’s mission to better serve the emergency medical needs of individuals and families in South Central Massachusetts and Northeastern Connecticut

Webster Five’s Web of Caring to Make a Difference program reinforces the bank’s long-term initiative to give back to the community by supporting local organizations that are making a difference. With this significant financial support from the foundation, Harrington HealthCare at Webster was able to build a brand new emergency department, which included improved patient privacy, comfort and confidentiality, three separate areas for psychiatric emergency service patients, a private family waiting area, a separate ambulance entrance, and a newly constructed main lobby and entrance. The project increased the square footage of the emergency department space from 3,000 to 13,000.

The support of the Webster Five Foundation has not only helped in rebuilding the Emergency Department, but has also touched the lives of thousands of patients each year. Webster Five’s involvement in this development leaves a lasting legacy within the Webster community.

Edward H. Moore, President and Chief Executive Officer of Harrington HealthCare System, said, “We are very thankful for the extremely generous grant given by the Webster Five Foundation. Their support has allowed us to construct an emergency department equipped to handle the more than 13,000 visits we see each year, and has helped keep access to critical healthcare services in the local community.”

Richard T. Leahy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Webster Five, commented, “All of us at Webster Five are so proud to support the growth and development of Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard. We are grateful for all that they do to serve individuals and families in our community.”
