The Webster Five Foundation has announced that as part of its Web of Caring to Make a Difference program, it donated $4,000 to the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, Inc. The funds supported the annual Walk for the Homeless. The Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance is committed to helping the communities of Greater Worcester County respond to the homeless and near homeless by supporting prevention programs; ensuring the availability of high quality and appropriate sheltering and support services; encouraging the availability and access to decent affordable housing; and empowering people through education.

Webster Five’s Web of Caring to Make a Difference program reinforces the bank’s long-standing initiative to give back to the community by supporting local organizations that are making a difference. The Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, Inc. aligns with this initiative as it aims to eliminate homelessness in the community and improve the livelihood of those currently in such a situation within the Greater Worcester County area.

The Annual Walk/Run for the Homeless is a signature event for CMHA, whose primary purpose is to raise awareness about homelessness and the status of housing in Worcester County and provide financial support in the community. To date, the Annual Walk for the Homeless has raised over 1.7 million dollars to prevent family homelessness, provide quality shelter, and supportive services to promote economic stability and housing for families. The money that’s been raised has assisted over 100,000 families to stabilize their housing situation.

Richard T. Leahy, president and chief executive officer of Webster Five, stated, “We applaud the work of the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, and the difference they are making in our community. Webster Five is honored to support their mission to respond to the needs of the homeless, and work to prevent homelessness.”

Grace K. Carmark, Executive Director of the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, said “Our efforts would not have been possible without support from organizations like the Webster Five Foundation. We are grateful for their involvement as we continue to help many more families as they struggle to remain in their homes, and work to eradicate homelessness in Central Massachusetts.”
